Privacy Policy

Check My Well is designed to make public well records easier to use while being clear about when personal information is collected and shared.

Last updated: August 19, 2026.

Information used for property checks

When you search a property, the service may process the entered address, approximate coordinates, province, search radius and interaction events needed to produce and improve the report. Public well-record information comes from government or other public data sources and is not personal information supplied by you.

Buyer reports and payments

If you purchase a buyer report, Check My Well stores the property and report data needed to fulfill that order. Card information is handled by the payment processor and is not intended to be stored by Check My Well. Payment status, order identifiers and related transaction metadata may be retained for fulfillment, accounting, fraud prevention and support.

Contractor match requests

If you request local contractor matches, we collect the contact information and project details you submit. With your explicit consent, Check My Well may share your request, contact information and searched property with up to three approved contractors who service the area. Contractor partners may pay Check My Well for access to qualified requests. Your information is not made public through the contractor marketplace.

Contractor and Realtor information

Contractor applications may include business contact details, service areas, services and licence or registration information where applicable. Realtor founding-access submissions may include name, email, phone and primary market. This information is used to operate the relevant professional program and communicate about access.

Local browser storage

The site may use browser local storage to remember items such as a contractor portal token or admin token on the device being used. Clearing browser data removes locally stored values. Do not use shared devices for private portal access.

Service providers and legal requirements

Information may be processed by hosting, database, analytics, mapping, geocoding, payment and communications providers used to operate the service. Information may also be disclosed when reasonably necessary to comply with law, protect rights and security, investigate abuse or complete a business transaction subject to applicable law.

Retention and security

Records are retained only as long as reasonably needed for the purposes described above, legal obligations and legitimate business operations. No online service can guarantee absolute security; Check My Well uses reasonable administrative and technical safeguards appropriate to the data and stage of the service.

Your choices

You can use the core property checker without submitting a contractor request. Contractor matching requires explicit consent. Professional waitlists are optional. Where applicable law provides access, correction or deletion rights, Check My Well will provide a practical request process when the production service launches.

Not a government service

Check My Well is independent and is not affiliated with or endorsed by a provincial, territorial or federal government.

This policy should be reviewed for the final operating entity, hosting stack, analytics configuration and applicable Canadian privacy requirements before public launch.
